I work with a wide variety of yarns, but my absolute favourite is 100% Alpaca from Heirloom—lightweight, luxuriously soft, and warm, perfect for treating yourself. I also use Knit Picks Superwash yarn, which is easy-care and lightweight, and Merino wool, which is heavier and extra-warm, perfect for winter!

A beanie can cost up to $34 in materials. I’ve decided to keep profits as low as possible to make hand dyed yarn more accessible, as well as to cover continuing my hobby!

About the Yarn

All my yarns are hand-dyed using either food dye or commercial-grade wool dye from Jacquard. I use citric acid as my fixative, no vinegar smell for us! The yarn is heated and a slight amount of felting can happen during this process, especially as I prefer non-superwash yarns.

As I make such small batches I can dye my yarn in as little as 30 minutes, with cooling time add an hour for good measure. Wash, dry, then make a beanie.

I can’t wait until I can sell skeins for you to create your own masterpieces!

About the Dye Process

A Little About Me

I’m a 26-year-old disabled artist from a family of creatives. I started in painting, but dyeing yarn has truly captured my heart—I’ve never loved a hobby more. I’m autistic, queer, and living with multiple health conditions so creating hand-crafted items brings me a slice of joy every day. I love to draw so any art you see is made by me! Your support helps me turn this passion into a business, and I’m so grateful to share my creations with you.
